Chemistry · pH (on SZU's topic list)
Our sampleWhat is the pH of a 0.001 mol/L solution of hydrochloric acid (HCl)?
Tap an answer to see the explanation.
Show the answerThe answer
The answer is C: 3.
- A) Wrong. pH 1 needs 0.1 mol/L of H+ ions.
- B) Wrong. pH 2 needs 0.01 mol/L of H+ ions.
- C) Right. HCl is a strong acid, so all of it splits into ions. H+ is 0.001 mol/L, or 10⁻³ mol/L. So pH = -log(10⁻³) = 3.
- D) Wrong. pH 11 is basic, not acidic. You get it from 0.001 mol/L of NaOH, a strong base.
SZU's topic list names pH twice: with acids and bases, and with calculations.
Written by SlovakiaMedPrep, in the Comenius exam's format: one correct option. SZU has not published its answer format. Not a real exam question.

Questions
What applicants ask most
Who runs SlovakiaMedPrep? Do you have reviews?
SlovakiaMedPrep is run by Prepalio International B.V., a private limited company registered in the Netherlands at Honingerdijk 85A01, 3063 AK Rotterdam. Its Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number is 42134936, so you can check it in the Dutch business register. We are not part of SZU or Comenius University, and we are not an agent: you apply to each university yourself. SlovakiaMedPrep is new, so it has no reviews yet. Questions? Email contact@slovakiamedprep.com.
When are the 2027 exam dates and deadlines?
- SZU: Not published yet. Last year (2026): English programme: apply by 31 May 2026. One exam on 1 July 2026, in person in Bratislava.
- Comenius: Not published yet. Last year (2026): Three exams a year: March (online), June (online) and August (6 August for General Medicine, 7 August for Dentistry, online or in person). Registration for the August exam ran from 4 June to 23 July. Results came within 30 days.
Read the SZU guide and the Comenius guide.
What score do I need? Is the Comenius exam out of 800 or 200 now?
SZU: For 2026/27, the English programme ranks you only on the points from the written test. The document for the English programme lists no bonus points for school grades or olympiads. The last published result (2025): For the 2025/2026 year, SZU admitted English-programme applicants with 638 down to 355 points, out of 640. That is one year's result, not a promise. Comenius: No minus points. A wrong answer gets 0 points, and choosing more than one option also gets 0 points. The maximum score is not published. So never leave a blank. Read the Comenius guide.
If I fail in March, can I sit the Comenius exam again in June?
No. You can register for a study programme only once per academic year. So a bad exam means you wait a year for Comenius. SZU is a separate university with its own exam day. Apply to both, and you get two chances in one year. Read the Comenius guide.
I'm not from the EU. Which exam date should I pick?
Comenius: You can register only once per study programme each year. You need a secondary school diploma (EQF level 4). Applicants from outside the EU should take the March or June exam, because a visa takes time. SZU: its English-programme document says nothing about visas, so ask SZU before you rely on its exam date. We cannot advise on visas. Read the Comenius guide.
Do I need IELTS? Is there an interview or physics?
Neither school asks for an English certificate. The test is in English, so reading science quickly in English is the real check. Neither school's English-programme rules name an interview. Neither exam tests physics. Read the SZU guide.
Should I apply directly, or through an agency?
You can apply yourself, because both schools take applications online. SZU then wants the signed form and every document by post, all by its one deadline. Comenius wants a few uploads with the online application. Our free checklist PDF lists every document. We are not an agency, and we do not apply for you.
What has to be translated? Do I need an apostille?
SZU: your school-leaving certificate needs an apostille (an official stamp that proves it is real) and an authorised Slovak translation. Your birth certificate needs an authorised Slovak translation too. Comenius: the recognition statement counts only with a notarised copy of your diploma in Slovak, from a certified translator. The full lists are in the SZU guide and the Comenius guide.
Can a parent pay?
Yes. At checkout, enter the email the student will use. The receipt goes to that email, and the student signs in with it. Need an invoice in a parent's name? Write to contact@slovakiamedprep.com before you pay.
